    Awsome looking motor!
Did you build it? Have it built or what?
How much HP do you think it will put out?
Are you going to Moab this easter? I hope to, and would love to see/hear it run.
Hope it slides in smooth and all goes well today.
There is <font color=red> NOTHING<font color=black> like turning the key for the first time and hearing the rumble of a big block[IMG]
Hope the neighbors don't freak out when you fire it up!
Some might think there is a storm coming in <font color=red>and there is!<font color=black>
    GOOD LUCK!

    Thanks!

I did all of the build up except for the short block which I had Western Engine here in Denver put the pieces together and balance it. I just got the heads and manifold bolted on last night. I have a feeling this FI is going to be a bitch.

I hate to speculate on HP but according to Dyno 2000 and my specs, it's suppose to put out 549hp and 626lbs of torque at the flywheel (open exhaust). The Dyno program is a little vague on the head selection and induction so that figure could be off.

(sorry the pic is so big)

Speedomotive did a dyno on their 489 stroker that puts out 580 HP & 600 ft./lbs of torque. I wish I could take it to a real flywheel dyno shop and get the real numbers. I'll eventually be putting it on a chassis dyno and I'll be sure to post pics and results when I do.

I should be in Moab unless bad luck comes my way and something goes wrong with the engine/fuel injection.

    A true "thing of beauty".

That FI will make the low end veryyyyyyyyy nice, with the top end even better! FI makes so much difference with a nice cam, won't believe it till you get it running and the computer "learns". Mine (288 cam in my 406), when you disconnect the battery for a half hour or so, sounds so lumpy when you first start it up, but after a while it smooths right out. Amazing thing FI/computers. Sounds like a miss once in a while when you first get it back up, just the computer changing the pulse width.

Hope you get it all dialed in to start with.............are you having help with the FI/startup? Not that you need it [IMG] but gotta make sure that thing starts up right. You have a roller cam I believe, so that will solve the fears about the cam breakin.

Good luck with another incredible mod to Potent Rodent. You are the king...........

Hey Steve, we finally caught you with a little mess in your garage! Haha. I wish the mess in my garage was that small. Just put a new fridge in there(or new one in the house and old one into the garage) and it is messier than ever.

    Late Night Post.
So Shawn, did you get anywhere? or did steve hold the picker for ransom???
I hear that in Blazer Country that if you borrow a mans tools
when he needs them that you <font color=red>HAVE<font color=black> to help you do the work as repayment?[IMG]
Hope you got somewhere today.......and thanks for the spec.s

    I appreciate all the comments!

Well... the engine is still sitting outside of the ol K5. Steve was nice enough to bring the hoist over that afternoon. The big hold up was the fricken motor mounts. Had to go to Napa 3 times before I got the right ones. That took most of the day. I figured it would be easier to route the injection wiring harness before the engine is dropped so I worked on that. Then I dropped my Sony digital camera making it useless. [IMG][IMG] I really wanted to get some good pics of my Center Force DF clutch and the engine being installed so I called it a night. I may get another camera today.

    Donovan-
Both crank and rods are made by Triton Engineering. You can buy them here: http://www.off-road.com/chevy

[sniffle] Tears filled my eyes when I saw the pic of the motor [IMG]

Man, I'm jealous. But definately good luck Shawn. Let us know how it goes. Funny you broke your digi camera. I dropped mine a while back and it's been wierd ever since. [IMG] It doesn't read the batteries right anymore. I would put new batteries in and it would read it like it was a dead battery and turn off. Then I have to turn it back on a few times and finally it would work [IMG] Anyways, good luck [IMG]

Cool thanks for the link Shawn. I was hoping that they might have Big Block Chrysler rods but they didn't. I will call to find out if they plan on making them. Thanks again.
