    BBC #\'s

I'm trying to get info about the motor in my 2wd. The ID # T 12 CRR is stamped on the right deck in front of the head. From what I've read the number is supposed to be just under the intake. Also, the intake is aluminum, with ID # 3963569 which I have found to be factory installed on the 375hp SS396 in '70-'71. Any info would be appreciated.

Get the numbers off of the back of the block. Look behind the valve cover on the drivers side. There should be a ledge right where the tranny hooks up where there should be a string of numbers. PM me or post them here and I should be able to tell you.

I just looked up your intake numbers and this is what I got: It is a high performance Factory intake manifold. The port type is Rectangular and it was made by Holley. It should be an aluminum manifold and they originally came on 402's or 454's. So I guess the 396 would work since they were basically the same engine.

I just cross referenced those intake numbers into my SS book (Chevelle), and it shows it as being the stock intake for a 70-71 375hp 396 or the 70-71 LS6 450hp 454. Looks like you might have one hot motor.

    Re: BBC #\'s

I've been researching the #'s and found the intake came on a 70-71 LS-6 450hp 454, the block was a 70 LS-6 450hp 454 and the heads #3964291 are 108.0cc closed chamber from the LS-6 also except the build date on the heads are C1572 or March 15, 1972, so this doesn't seem to add up. This motor has apparently been detuned to run on pump gas and came in a 2wd Suburban I picked up for $1000. What would this motor be worth to the right person? Thoughts anyone.

No idea what it might be worth, but if it were me I'd post that engine number on a Chevelle enthusiasts site, and see if anyone gets excited about it.

If it came from a rare Chevelle, odds are good that someone might pay good money to get it back into the original vehicle.......

    Just a thought.

That's what I'm thinking, besides I don't want something like that in my Suburban. I want a low revving 488. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
