Is there any difference in a flywheel changing from SBC to BBC.

they are the same as long as they are for internally balanced engines.

Yes... possible differences!... it is a balance issue.

The only possibility of interchange might be for an internally balanced SBC (350 and smaller) would prolly work on an internally balanced BBC (366, 396, and 427). But the 400 SBC and 454 BBC are externally balanced - having counterweights on the flywheel - so they would not interchange w/ others or each other.

Most small blocks had internally balanced engines so they had a normal flywheel and harmonic balancer. Big blocks and small block 400's are externally balanced and have counterweights on the flywheel and harmonic balancer. This is a general rule as I have seen internally balanced SBC 400's that use a 350 flywheel and harmonic balancer and I'm sure there are other exeptions as well.
