Hey gang..... recently i've become "in the market" for a new tranny. My 700R4 is going "tits up" Ive done some digging around and found what sounds to be one hellava good rebuild. Maybe this has already been discussed on here, But there is a tranny shop in Louisianna, http://www.transmissioncenter.net That builds what they call the RAPTOR (i know, sounds kinda cheesy...)
but the specs. on this thing seem pretty decent. For instance, being able to tow 6,000 pounds in overdrive and have the thing hold up. Seems like they have this thing dialed in too as they have built over 4,000 of them. I gave this info to a tranny mech. friend and he even likes what they have done. I wont bore you with the details check it out for yourself. They get $1500 for this tranny and will ship it any where for about $125. I just ordered mine today. Let me know what you all think of this thing..... I will let you all know what the finished product is like. If your in the market for one of these, get ahold of me thru PM and i can tell you who to talk to and maybe get you a couple bucks off.

Is there a warranty on the tranny. I know I can get a 700r4 from the dealer for $1500.00 and comes with a 3yr/50,000 mile warranty.

That is an awsome tranny! My cousin just moved out of La and he had his tranny done by their shop. He said the guy who owns the place has a huge burband w/ a BBC and he tows some heavy stuff like mad in OD. I talked to them last feb when my tranny died and was hoping to get one, but they just couldn't get one out to me fastenough, so I went local.

There is a guy in my 4x4 club that just installed one of these in his K5 about 2 weeks ago. I'll see if I can get him in touch with you about the tranny. From everything I have heard, he is quite pleased with it.
