Looks like I am about ready to tackle this mod. Where is a good place to get a kit with everything for a good price? I have also heard that some shafts are like an 1/8" too long and ride into the locking hub causing problems over time. Anybody know about that? Thanks.

I also recommend Greg Youens at 4WDfactory at 512-759-6267. He has a night job as well so it's best to call around 11:00AM wen he wakes up.

Yep, got mine from Greg too. Just talked to him a week or so back when I ordered yet another short side and CTM. Great guy with great service. Highly recommended.

Seems like Stephen (ORD) also carries them. Another great guy with great service...

    No problems with length?

I think Stephen (ORD) was the one who mentioned to me that some stub shafts you find are too long and will rub on the locking hubs. Locking one side and unlocking the other.
I assume this is a vendor spacific issue and just wanted to make sure. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

If I'am correct I believe the issue with the longer 35 spline stub shafts has to do with the ones for Furd......................

It has nothing to do with vendor. It's a Spicer stub either way. The problem is these are D70 stubs (rare application) and they are a little longer than the D60 stubs. Some people have more trouble than others, it's real close to being flat out too long, and tolerance stack along with locking hub selection seems to make the difference. Some people cut them off, some people space them out with special seals and bearings. I run slugs so it's not an issue for me at all. Bottom line is it does not matter who you get them from, just get them (if you need them) and find out if you have issues. If you do, address them as they arise.

As for Fords, they don't fit at all in a Ford since the Ford stubs are shorter than GM anyway. The Ford guys cut them off and re-cut the lock ring groove or switch to GM hubs.

I wonder whatever happened to the Yukon 4340 shafts... I've got a set of Ford 35sp. 4340s in mine, and they seem to do just fine. Only paid $169 for the set off ebay.

Sorry I miss stated myself. What I was thinking was the supplier that you purchase them from may be selling you the D70 application stub shafts instead of the D60. This would of course be a wrong application, but possibly an explination for someone getting a shaft that is too long. Just an attempt at a possible explanation, I am not speaking from first hand knowledge. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

No problem. But there is no 35 spline D60 stub shaft. The 35 spline stubs are all D70 items... They just happen to fit the GM/Dodge D60s other than being just a bit long. Myself, I stack 5 nitrile o-rings under the snap ring to keep the back seal tightly seated. Works great with slugs.

Maybe I'll just cut off a hair before I install them just to be on the safe side then. I do plan on running hubs currently as it still sees the street. Or it will someday. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif
