saw something the other day listing what people thought were the most prestigous jobs in the US.

    #1- Firefighter

I have a good friend who is a firefighter and he was telling me just this past weekend that he has to do odd jobs in his spare time to make ends meet. That sucks. Those guys are worth good money and they should be getting it.

Yeah, some areas of the country pay better than others. It is a shame what some cities pay their FF's. Here, we get paid pretty fair. I'll never be rich from my job, but I'll never really be without either.

Well, he was telling me that he really loved his job even though they didn't pay him much. I told him that being able to say you love your job is worth alot and I had no doubt that he would be able to provide for his family (wife and two young sons 2 & 4). He has an excellent work ethic and I know he will do fine.

Yeah, I don't think I've met any FF's that wanted to leave the FD. Great hours (we think), fun job, usually good pay. Many FF's do work side jobs just because of the amount of days off we get. Some are just busy bodies, and don't want to just sit around for 48 hrs waiting to go back to work. Theres certainly nothing wrong with making a little extra for those unexpected things that come up. About the only side job I have (besides the K5, and other things I have to do around here) is working some OT shifts... even better pay for the same job I love .. LOL :thumb:

Yeah, if you can find something you love to do, and get paid for it, you're golden.

What about vice president???? Shake hands, smile and blame the other party for all the country's problems. Four years later, walk out with a lifetime pension, killer medical benefits, and write a best-selling book.

VP would be good... but there are still annoying VP-haters out there and you have to show up on the Senate floor sometimes. Better chances of being a punter too...
