I went to http://shop.store.yahoo.com/protopaccessories/bestigforbla.html

On there they have a Bestop "tigertop" for 69-72, 73-75 and 76-88 Blazers/Jimmys. But
in the picture above the description they show a J**P. They only come in black and the
part numbers were BT51316 and 51316-01 (black) for 73-75 Blazers. The price for the
top is $569.99 and about $50 less for 76-88 tops.

I talked to Bob at customer service and he had one in stock for 73-75 Blazers. He
personally went back and checked to see if he had one in stock. He said he could give a
"dealer" price discount on a group order if we went through someone like ORD. He said
that if we decide to do that, we would need to get back with him so he could order
some more tops. Plus, there is free shipping. Also, we could get dealer discounts on any
other products on their site. I don't know if Stephen already has an account through
that particular site but, it would be something to consider. Stephen, you just came to
mind I am not trying to speak on your behalf.

What do you guys think? I am considering to buy one with my tax money. Or as a group
either way. Any one have one of these tops or seen them on a Blazer?

Sorry about the book.

I might be interested, but I'd really like to see one on a blazer. Maybe some back ground on quality too, but i'm definity interested. Not like we have a lot of choices anymore.

I do too. I know Bestop has been making tops for a while for J**Ps but I want to see it. Bestop needs to upgrade their site. It said that it has not been upgraded since 98. Their has to be someone on here who has one ( I hope!)

Hey Zep, any Idea what they look like???
The old style of BestTop had a very flat or vertical rear window. Any comments about how this 'new' top looks??
I would definitally need to or would want to see that sucker before dropin 600 bones at it!

I wish I did. I e-mailed Bestop yesterday and hope to hear from them soon. Maybe they can send me a picture of it and then I can post it on CK5. I know I need to see it before I even think of buying it.

I have had one on a 73 Blazer, for about two years, lived in the Seattle area, and since I biought it at sears, they
gave me my money back, thats good cutomer support, the tops good(ok), just did not work out for me(my application, and enviroment).
FYI, If you pay more than 350-400 for the 73-75 full top you are getting taken. Dealer pricing is overrated(overpriced)

Did you buy it through their catalog? How was the vinyl top? Did it leak? How well did it fit? I think everyone is in the dark on this one since no one has seen one. Do you remember how much you paid for it?

Thanks for any info.

Yep, order it from the cat. back in 1986. The vinyl top was just like any other vinyl. Leak yes but all did the same
at that time Kayline/Skler, but only at certian positions, and when driving for long freeway trips at 45-55 MPH, I learned that if you can pressurize the cabin leaks are at a min. Fit yes it fit, snaps across the front whindshield, and snaps along the tail gate. I think like $279.95 on sale and $10-20 for shipping to my local Sears store.
FYI, in the snow up in the mountains if has no insulation, went sking and the spare water/jug/antifreeze started to
freeze, even a two hour ride home with the heater on high, and it was still cold inside.

I know on the Wranglers the front of the top is kind of like a fast trac. Would this be the same for the 80's K5 or is it all snaps?

I don't know for sure what this style of top is going to be like. In the description on the yahoo site it said it was a brand new style. So, I am assumming they are using the same fasteners and snaps as some of the newer J**P tops. I hope it is similiar to the Fast Trac design too. Also, I am sure it is a better design than than Exe.'s top.

But, it would save us alot of questions if Bestop would provide a picture with the products they sell!

Do you have any idea how many more they have in stock? Have you seen the Bestop compared to the Kayline and you think the Kayline top is the better of the two? How much did you pay for shipping and how many days before the top arrives at your door?

I am just trying to decide between the two.

Thanks

I posted this on the is kayline closing post but I'l post it again. I'm not familiar with the bestop for blazers but I am experienced with thier jeep tops. The tiger top is bestops bottom line top for jeeps. I had one on one of my jeeps and it was pretty cheesy. I was not at all happy with it. It didn't seal at all, it kept most the rain off you but that's about all I can say about it. It also flapped so bad it would tear itself off. For all your sakes I hope the blazer version is better.

On Friday, I called Bestop and asked for a picture. They didn't have any so they sent me a copy of the instruction sheets because they have diagrams. However, they are only cheesy drawings. Not much help.

From what I heard hear the Bestop isn't the "best" top compared to the Kayline. It is also alot more expensive. I just ordered the old style with the 2% tint and it runs about $456.65 with $25 shipping with UPS. I also called some other distributors and they are out of all Kayline models. Call Turner's, they only have 2 or 3 left: 1-800-843-5337.

I was planning on having one made for my '79 if I was unable to buy one, but since I just got it yesterday, I would be willing to take measurements of the steel parts and other dimensions if anyone is interested. The design is alot less complicated than I thought. A competent boat shop should be able to make one with these measurements, and you could just make the brackets and posts yourself. If anyone is interested, let me know.

We're going to wait until Kayline is officially over and done with before we go looking for another supplier, it should be more clear in another month or so. They're hoping a new buyer will take over and keep producing, so maybe I'll pass on that a lot of K5 guys are looking for the tops. They have to know they have the blazer market wrapped up at this point. The were the only ones with color choices, and different top styles. I REALLY hope they make it through.

This is what I got from the site that Zepp posted.

The Tigertop is a tough, durable replacement for your aging Factory Top. Endowed with all the quality and durability you would expect from Bestop. The Tigertop features black powder-coat painted hardware and hidden snaps. Includes both hardware and fabric. I do not have pictures.

Are the Bestops all snap mounted (including the cab attachment) or is there some kind of track design for the front of the top. Do you have a picture of the top installed on an 80'a Blazer?
