Anyone have any big block parts laying around?
mainly in need of block to do some test fitting with.

Ideal would be a 454/396 to make a homebrew 427.

I'll PM you a # of a guy I know in Central Oregon. He has some misc BBC parts laying around. I'm pretty sure he has some heads and an intake but I'm not sure about a block.

I have a set of 454 heads that have been magnafluxed, no cracks and good, springs, valves, etc in a box to put together. They aren't new but in good shape....how about $100.

We also have 2 sets of headers with good thick flanges, $50 for the newer pair and $20 for the older pair.

Thats all I have left of my misc big block stuff. If interested let me know as of right now its just taking up space on my parts shelf.

This is the casting number and what mortec.com decoded them as. Also with them we have a pair of chrome valve covers that will be thrown in with that package.

Sounds good, let me know when, and I'll just take them to his house so you can pick all of it up at once. He lives about 3 miles from me. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I'm leaning towards the block huggers.

So does it matter the condition? Ken had a 454 with a porthole in the side of it sitting in the scrap pile a couple of weeks ago.

that doesn't matter. as long as the bellhousing bolts screw in, and motor mount bosses are still there.

The ventilated block went to the shredder.
I still haven't peeled the heads off the one in the 73 yet.
I was gonna do it earlier but with the sun beating down on it and 90* out I'll do it when it the sun goes down.
Just getting the front of it stripped off was about more than I wanted to do LOL
That and I decided to remove the front clip and swap it onto the K5.
Once the clip is off it will make getting the heads off it a lil more easy. Not to mention getting the block out.
As to the block I would imagine that the cylinders are at the high side of the tolerances. A person could prolly get by with just reringing it but I wouldn't recomend it.

The clip and heads are off, phew it's a lil warm out aint it.
The bores are between 4.291 and 4.2915.
    .040 over is 4.290.
Just as I though they would be, at the high side.
Otherwise it is an excellant canidate for a rebuild.

Did you make any deals on the headers yet? What kind of condition are the older ones for $20 in? I am looking for an ok set to replace my crappy set, but don't need anything fancy, just functional.
