GM never made a factory installed 454 tall deck engine. You could however buy an aftermarket tall deck block and build it. The engine is most likely a 427 tall deck and they are good starting points for a large displacement engine build.

    Like they say,
    "no replacement for displacement"
"when in doubt, bore it out"

427" and 366" tall deck motors are torque monsters... If the price is right, go for it ....

Chevy 90 degree V-8's and V-6's from the begining of time with the small block to the current LS1 style small block , including small , big , or w-headed , use the same bellhousing pattern . It will sit right in your truck . You just need the accesory brackets and other sundries to complete the install , like radiator , flexplate/flywheel is correct , etc. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

If for some odd reason it is some kind of aftermarket tall deck block the distributor is special for it only.

Only issue I can see is that it is probably high mileage. Are you planning to rebuild it or hoping to run it as is for awhile? Also whether or not its a good investment depends on what you are paying for the bus.
