things around here have just become more and more sucktacular in the last several months, and I'm just thinking about bailing. I havn't got many friends ( who does) and some of those only call when they need heavy [censored] moved, or wrenches slung. as much as I love turning wrenches, I absolutely hate only being called when someone wants me to help them with thier vehicle. I hate this job, because I do the work of 4 people, ( I have 4 job titles, and responsibility for all 4 things when something goes wrong) and get paid only about 1/2 of what any of the 4 positions would get paid anywhere else ( head of security, network administrator, hardware tech, software troubleshooter) I also am routinely ignored by the VP on any subject matter that he wants, because he wants it, even tho it'd cost 300,000 times less to do it my way, which we end up doing after he screws up his way.

to top it off, its hotter'n hell here. today its 100, with nothing less then 100 in the forcasts for the next 3 months.

gah, not that anyone cares, just had to vent a little...

Here's what I'd do (and have done.)

Start slinging out resumes. Once you find a better job, tell the current guys to F off. Who cares about burning bridges if you hate it that much. My last job I signed up for two weeks vacation, when my last day before vacation arrived, I turned in my two weeks notice at quitting time, shredded all my notes (they wouldn't let me take them because they were on company cleanroom paper) gave my old boss the finger and walked out before security could even get there to walk me to the door.

Sounds like you need to get yourself laid and then find another job...

Life's way too short to work at a shithole where you aren't apreciated. Think of it this way...you were looking for a job when you found that one. Fire out some resumes and change the daily scenery some.

BTW...you do have plenty of friends, we're all here as mudhog already stated. If venting is all you need then knock yerself out. Any advice we give could just be a bonus...

well, I suppose things are looking up a little... my friend/co-worker/roomate is pretty much pissed off at work too, as is our other friend/co-worker, which would leave them in a rather interesting position, should we all decide to jump ship... they wrote, designed, and poorly noted the database that they use exclusively to move parts, and inventory, and no one else knows a single thing about it. with the poor noting laid out in the database, chances are pretty good no one will ever be able to make heads or tails of the matter, regardless of how they try. of course, no one will be able to figgure out 1/2 the network I threw in there, as I currently hold the only copy to the network map on my computer, ( which could have a catastrophic accident when I leave, like a giant magnet somehow coming to rest on the harddrive, while it does a lowlevel formatt)

oh well, none of that matters now, because I got 2 new tires on the back of my burb, and I can STOP again!. ( the look on that stupid ladies face, as I was sliding sideways towards her lame `pull in front of the HUGE thing, at 2 MPH' broken car was priceless, and almost worth the scare I took)

thanks to all, and now I;m gonna go see if I can't find me a lady...

Life is to short to not move on. It might not be a good idea to delete stuff before you quite. If it caused the company enough damage, the law might look at it as sabatoge. Sound like you have enough skills to travel around and work somewhere else. Hell with 'em.

Striking might not be an incredibly horrible option, but I figgure it'll take some time, and doing to organize one of those, plus, they're not the brightest peanuts in the turd, and may just fire us, then worry about wether they can work anything or not.

oh well, I take the little joys when I can.... moved one of my `perpetual trouble users' to the `port of purgatory' which routes from the main hubstack, back to the engineering substack, to a 1/2 broken, overloaded 10 base T hub, which then goes back through the switch fabric of that hubstack, before being beamed back to the main hubstack, where it goes to the rest of the network.

Ha! We've done things like that. We had a remote home user that had a VPN to use through a cable modem. We bounced him off of our netscreen through a 56K frame relay in Boston, ( He's in Oregon ) and then back through to use. Bogged him down good. Had him convinced that it was the cable modem.
