Baking soda and water made into a paste. Plaster it on, and let it dry. Helps me...

Stay out of red ants. We have them everywhere down here. I'm thinking that they are what we call fire ants. You probably had an allergic reaction that will go away after a few days. I know many people who have that problem. A little topical benadryl helps some.

red ants = fire ants :doah: never heard them called anything other than fire ants my whole life, just put benadryl, caladryl (sp?), cortaid... any of those will help with the itch/burning, it will be fine in about a week.

Ortho makes some powderede poison that smells horrible but seems to do a fantastic job of killing them

The only proven scientific method (that I learned when I was 10) I know of ridding your yard or area of FIREANTS is finding the colony and dropping a lit m80 down the hole and move back so they don't land on you.

its pb best just to suck it up and deal with it. seems to work good for me. I just scrape off the head when it forms and leave it be. Usually goes away after 4 or 5 days.

Diesel works fairly well also and burns for a good amount of time. It makes me smile to see the fire ants on fire running out of their little hole burning and smoking:haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha::haha:
