I found a pair of Black Jack headers for pretty cheap. Does any one have any info on them. I hear that the cheap headers will warp after time. Should I even bother with these or should I spend the extra money for the good stuff. Extra money is something a college student doesn't have so any bargain is good for me. thanks for the help.

these are cheap headers. they will warp on the heads and on the collector flange. blackjack is part of the mr gasket group. they made "inexpensive" performance parts! if you really care, you will have to spend money. if your options are limeted to 100.00 dollor headers. these are them!

your right. I don't understand the jeep thing!

    Don't Do It!!!

I had a set of these one set I bought new for my old 1969 Dart GTS and they were a pain in the ass. Another set were on my 1969 Nova, they warped , the flanges bent, they didn't fit right, had to smash them into place.

Save yourself the hassle and get a good pair.

Look for a better pair. I'd only get them if that was all you could afford. I had a pair once a long time ago and wasn't pleased with them.

Why not stick with the good ol' manifolds until you can afford some real headers? Unless your manifolds are bad, I don't think there's a reason for a rush to get headers.

Flowtech Afterburners ceramic coated are about $240 if I remember well. Painted version are way cheaper.

No, they are not. It says, "Not legal for sale or use on Calfornia Pollution Controlled Motor Vehicles."
"This product is intended for off-road or racing use only."

Couldn't you get away by welding an O2 sensor to the header? Well, maybe not, since you're in CA.

I don't understand why are laws like that over there. In some places you can pass inspections if visually everything's there, even if you're pouring tons of poisonous gases. Wouldn't it be better if they just measured the actual emissions and not worry about how you get them?

Well they do, measure the tail pipe emissions that is. Its a two part test, and you must pass both parts.
Visuale is one part, they look for certain components(cats, air pump,egr,.....ect)
If they are not there you don't pass plain and simple, then part two the sniff test, which you must also pass.
But I will agree with you to some extend, if its clean out the tail pipe, who care how it got that way, and some
states will allow this Wash. is one that I know of for sure, and I believe there are others.
