I am thinking about replacing my 74 blazers fenders because they are rusted 60% of the whole thing, and i have looked and all i can figure is you unbolt the sucker(fender)and bolt the new one on. This however seems to simple, so i am asking how do you go about removing and reinstaling both front fenders on a 74 blazer. i would really appreciate any help.

unbolt all the bolts and it should just come off. unbolt anything that is bolted to it too.

Raise the hood and support it with something. The hood hinge assembly is bolted to the fender. Replace one side at a time.

Keep track of body shims at the cowl...these are used to align the fenders so the body lines match up later.

If the fender is badly rusted the bolts holding it to the inner fender will probably be either rusted on real bad or snap as soon as you try to loosen them. You could try some PB blaster on them...

  4. It is really that simple, but as tRusty said keep track of those shims! And where they came from, it makes all the difference. That is if you want your hood to close after your done
Also if the fenders are that rusted out, replace the raidator support and inner fenders, they are not that much more $$ Mine was completly rusted out at the bottom, it basically fell apart when I took the fenders off. Painted them all with black rust-o-lem (sp) so it would not happen to me again.
Now I just need to deal with the rusted out floorpans!

With your fenders off, it would be a good time to align your doors. Get some new or rebuilt hinges and set them. Its just one of those things that is soooo much easier with the fenders off.
