I noticed a whine sound coming from the middle or the back of the Blazer the other day. The whine sound is there when I start off and stops when it shifts into 2nd gear. It kinda sounds like the transfer case is in gear. I don't think it's the trany but one day I was driving down the road and the truck started to shake real bad then just stopped. The next day I noticed the sound.
Can anyone tell me what the problem can be?

    Thanks,
    Charles

My Blazer whines a lot too...... usually it sounds like:

"Wah.....I want more ORD parts! How about a doubler....?"

    (or)

"How come we always drive on pavement, take me in the dirt"

    I'll check my U-Joints though..... /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Do you have the stock 10 bolt w/ gov-lok (posi/limited slip)? If so , it could be ready to take a dump! Doh!, I just read your sig. Yeah, it could most definately be the gov-lok if you one. Mine whined for about a month before it let go.

My truck does the same thing. The whine is really pronounced when I'm shifted into 4wd Low. Still there in Hi but quiter. I figure it is either the transfer case or transmission. I'm not sure which but it does the same thing as yours. It stops after second gear which tells me it isn't in my axles. If you figure it out please let us know.

Have you done the usual? Check fluids, end-play, joint play, etc?

    Transfter-case fluid?

    Tailhousing bearings??? (reaching here...)
