A few weeks ago I got the new LMC catalog, I have noticed that it lists some places for Blazers w/ no removable top. HUH?? Its always been my understanding that ALL Blazers had a pop top. Can anyone shed some light on this?? There are examples of this on pages 23-24-25.

They have got to be referring to Suburbans............that's the only thing I can think. I did look at the catalog and tho it says Blazer............from my recollection and owning 5 different K5's they ALL from 69-91 have it. It discontinued being removable with the new body style in 92........with the IFS error too [IMG].

92-96 (new body style) were still called Blazer's, in 97 the switch was made to Tahoe. They may be talking about the newer full size Blazers.

They could be talking about the Blazers that came w/o a hardtop, I have seen references to a factory soft top only Blazer. I think it is in the LMC seal for the tailgate section that it talks about the Blazer w/ factory soft top or factory hard top. Just another thought.

Although i've also never seen one, everything i've ever read says that the hardtop was OPTIONAL on '69-? Also, anything more than the drivers seat was optional. Will try to find info.

I have the new catalog and Cusm is correct. They are refering to Blazers that do not have a hard top.The illustrations shows parts for tailgates that do not have a window.

So what this may be is the factory installed softtop? That would make sense, I have never seen a factory softop Blazer so it didnt occur to me that could be what it was.

I don't know if any Blazers were ever made this way, but for 1969, the base version of the Blazer had no top at all. They also did not have any door glass. The wing window assemblies were removed, and they made caps for the top of the doors to cover the slots where the windows normally go. There are pictures of this stuff in my factory 1970 maintenance manual.

I know that the hard top or any top was an option 69 to 72 as was heater, door glass, seats, other than drivers. All CST had the hard top by the way it was part of the package. I dont know about the 73 to 75, but I would bet that the top was an option then too!

OK the add said Blazer and Jimmy 1973 to 1981 without removable hardtop. Looking at the picture the top looks like a softtop. My ? on all of this is I have never seen a K5 with a factory soft top and if they made them, or it was an option, has anybody ever called a dealer to see if they can find a factory soft top?

Here is the page from the '72 brochure showing the accessory soft top. I have heard of a couple of people who still have factory 1st gen soft tops. Never heard of a second gen.

I have never seen a " factory "soft top either. If I can ever find it I will look in an old crash book for the Blazers, to see if its listed or better yet shows a part #.

There was a factory soft top offered by GM for the 76- 80ish Blazers when they were discontined, in fact I bid on a blue one over at ebay one time, I emailed the guy and he sent me a factory drawing maybe even with a part number, it may be on my hard drive at home some where, I will have to look. Yes they are as rare as a "government worker" but they did exist at one time.

The Cheyenne Pickup catalog lists a soft top for $495 in black and white only. It does not specify if it's a factory repro or aftermarket though
