BLM SEEKS PUBLIC INPUT ON COMPREHENSIVE TRAVEL MANAGEMENT

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Hassayampa Field Office will hold three public meetings during the month of April 2007, on Comprehensive Travel Management for the Bumble Bee, Table Mesa, Lake Pleasant and San Domingo Wash areas.

The purpose of these meetings will be to inform the public of the route designation process, discuss what type of input will be helpful and present the general schedule. Maps will be available for review and BLM personnel will be on hand to answer questions. Comments regarding route connectivity, existing conflicts and current or desired access should be submitted at these meetings. This is your opportunity to give your ideas on a travel system and everyone is encouraged to attend.

The outcome of this process will be a draft travel management map which will be released for public review later this fall. These meetings will be held 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the locations listed below:

    Tuesday, April 24, 2007
    Deer Valley Senior Center
    2001 W. Wahalla Lane

    Thursday, April 26, 2007

Of course. They are seeking input as to better routes, connected routes, route closures, what type of use is the route, why you use it, etc. I obtained a CD with the current route inventory, in PDF format. Keep in mind anything they do with the travel management plan has to be subservient, and accord with the Resource Management plan. The RMP final draft is due out late this year. They are expexting to have a draft travel mgmt plan in Oct this year. Comments on the current route inventory are being taken until June 30.

As a heads up, when they review a route, there are many things considered:
    Endangered species act
    Riparian
    Desert Tortoise
    Cultural resources
    recreation
    etc.

You can send comments to AZ_PDO_Routes@blm.gov

They also have limited number of hard copy maps and CD's. You probably could get them to send you them if you call them- 623-580-5500
