I know one time I knew somebody that had the same problem and it was stuff in the back of the lighter element . Think maybe you should replace it ??? If nothing else unplug the wires and see if the fuse blows over time ???

Need to pick up a new lighter assembly - 90% of GM's develop this problem over time. Something in them gets loose and shorts out.

......And knowing is half the battle

<font color=purple> replace the lighter assembly or use a bigger fuse.

if there IS a short and you put a bigger fuse in it, you have a very good chance of starting an electrical fire under your dash.

Exactly what was happening to me. Make sure the lighter is firmly attached to the ashtray. It has to ground out on the metal, otherwise you'll keep blowing fuses. If tightening doesn't work, replace it.

    Good luck,

Tatman is right. A bigger fuse is not the right way to fix that problem. That cig. lighter and its wires were only designed to handle so much current...if you put a bigger fuse in there then a fire is a possibility. I've had to replace the lighter assembleys in 2 Blazers and my Monte Carlo daily driver...they wear out all the time. Cool thing is they're dirt cheap and easy to swap out.
