Blew the head gasket in my '86 Toyota pickup. It has been my DD while the Blazer is out of commission. Called the shop and they said around $600 to fix it. What do I do now? Do I get it fixed or do I buy a new engine? This one also burns oil.
    Thanks,
    Andrew /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

check the nickel ads... if you can spend a little more and get a warranty, thats the way to go.

If not, then see if you can fix it yourself...

If all else fails, you know the shop can fix it, see if they will warranty thier work.

See if you can get a jap crate motor for it. My buddy bought one a few years ago for about $300.00, that was a 4 cylinder 22re. Check it out.

Any ideas on where to look for one? I don't know much about this truck. It is my brother's, just decided to take a crap while I was driving it.
Troy, see if he will give you a rough estimate. 4cyl, injected, no AC, pwr steering, I believe it is a 22re but not 100% positive.
    Thanks Guys,

What was it doing? Why do they say it needs a head gasket?
