I have a rusted body mount under the drivers left foot. I feel it flex and thump quite a bit when I'm driving. I'm getting ready to add a 3" body lift and want to tackle this spot with the welder while I'm at it but mine has rusted away and frankly I'm not sure what its supposed to look like. I know its an obscure spot but does anyone have any pictures or diagrams of this area for reinforcement?

    I started with nothing and I still have most of that left! - <a target="_blank" href=http://www.echobit.com:81/k5/> Pictures</a>

You have a few options. LMC and about any two bit sheet metal joint should have an exact replacement for your mount. I really don't like them to be honest, that caged nut is a joke and the metal isn't real heavy. I'd use something like 1/8" box tubing. You have to pull your carpet and drill the spot welds out of your old mount. Then pull it out and slide that 1/8" tubing (cut to size) in. Welded it into your remaining subrframe and floor. Then get a drill and make a hole in that tube so you can get a bolt in there to hold your mount rubbers and body to the frame. You'll have a the bolt head and washer poking through the floor, but its nice to know you can at least unbolt it, instead of having to cut a hole in your floor to get at that stupid caged nut when it slips or you break the factory bolt.

there should be a flange thingy that runs under the cab right were the body mount goes. dont bother with the real mount, just weld a piece of 1'' box stock onto that channel and you'l never have another problem IMO
