Sometimes when at low RPMs my brakes will go out, usually right when i start my truck up, but sometimes after its been running too. It doesnt happen all the time either. I never know when its gonna happen, Hasnt happend at speed yet....

I bled them yesterday and i think i did a good job.. maybe not...

I heard that the proportioning valve either WORKS or DOESNT. so i dont think thats the problem cuz most of the time the brakes work....

Is it air in the lines. or the master cylinder. I dont see any fluid coming out from the rear drums. so i dont think its a Wheel cylinder....

can somone throw me a bone? Thx.

I agree with MudHog. Sounds like the vacuum booster is bad. Check for vaccuum leaks or a bad booster.

I know the Brake booster is behind the mast cylinder, is that the same as the vaccum booster?

Sounds alot like the master cylinder is giving up, Working intermintently. Cheap and easy to swap.

when the booster goes out and isnt getting vaccum, the pedal will feel like you dont have power brakes and you wont..
to check the master...if you apply the brakes lightly, does it do it, or does it do it when you apply them hard?

If your hearing air rushing then its most likely have to do with a blown out vacuum booster.

My cylinder went out on the 79 I had, 30 miles form on a trail I never been on. didn't help that the leaders already left and it was foggy. I made it all the way home using the e brake and even drove to work the next day..changed it after work and drove home. It's wasn't fun and that was only 35's. I'd love to put hydro boost on the wagon. My burb has it and it stops way better then my dads burb. (90 3/4T TBI350-th400)
