    Breakin\' brake lines loose.....

Ok, I know some of you guys here have broke brake lines loose a million times! Whats the easiest way to break them loose, without rounding the fittings off? I've been soaking them with PB Blaster....... Any ideas???

Use a flare nut wrench. You may break them anyway, but if you do, they're cheap and easy to make new ones. If you do round it off, cut it and use a 6 point socket to remove it.

I hate brake lines, or power steering line, transmission lines .... well just about any hard line on my truck! /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif Best thing is just soak them with penetrating oil the day before get a good flare wrench and tap them with a hammer to break them loose. Usually works pretty well.

    Good Luck, Shane

Use a flare wrench and and strike it with your palm. You are almost guaranteed to round it off if you try to do it slowly. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

if you round them off then just use vise grips, youre gonna have no choice anyways, if ou need to reuse the fitting then you can, just drill out the line with 3/16" bit for 3/16" line or 1/4" bit for 1/4" bit, this will also clean up inside the fitting and then you can transfer to new line and flare the end and install on truck and vice grip tight no one will ever know what you did, ive had to do this several times in the past

Or you could replace the fitting then re flare the line.
