broke a shock mount scouting for a mud hole. It look like a bolt snapped and now it is dangling off the 14B. can i just run a grade 8 bolt through the eye of the shock and through the frame? or take it off, ruff it for a bit and have someone relocate the shocks? any help is appreciated, as it is to rain here Saturday nite [IMG]

You probably could run a bolt threw the frame but that would only be a temperary fix in my mind. Steve Frisbie has a new rear shock mount system out. Its a little expensive, but looks stout. Its like $200. I'll find the webpage and get back to you.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.

Any given auto parts should have a replacement shock stud for a couple bucks. Just pop the old one off, and install the new - takes about 20 minutes or less, depending on rust.

The it is not welded to the frame, it is rivited. After I broke mine, I replaced the mount and had it welded to the frame.

If it is the pass. side it is just a bolt bolted to the frame and the shock fastens to the outside. The drivers side is the one rivited on. I may have one more shock mount bolt laying around, I just sold 2 to Wayne for his rig cus the old shocks on his wanted to keep them for themselves,LOL. I bought 4 cus I was doing duals but changed to the inboard set up.

Just using a straight bolt won't give the shock much of a shoulder to keep it from bashing into the frame - you really need to get a new shock stud to do it right. You could get a really long bolt and use 2 nuts and fender washers to make a shock mount out of it, but it wouldn't be as strong.
