I found this thought some might get a giggle out of it. Its a 1979 Ford dealer brocure explaining why a Bronco is better than a Blazer lol. I really wish I had read this before I got into K5's the "lighted vanity mirror as standard equipment" really would have sold me. Does anyone have a GM version of this?

Nice! I especially like how they consider a taller, narrower vehicle with a shorter wheelbase to have "advantages" over the K5, as well as the option of a whopping two engines, BOTH of which had 2 barrel carbs only. Ford makes me laugh.

Believe it or not, Ford did - they've owned the light truck market since 77. I always thought the 78-79 Broncos were way cool, it's just the 80-96 that sucked.

I don’t know that much about F*rd's but.....

Is the XLT Donkey in the same class as a Cheyenne or a Silverado? Just would like to clarify if they are comparing apples to apples.

You also know that the F*rd Mustang out does a Chevette 9 times out of 10.....

I bought a brandy new '79 F-150 in 1980. Same running gear as the Bronco. Besides being a complete POS that always had something broken, the 2 bbl 351 was a slug. No power and got a whopping 7 MPG on the highway. Sold it 18 months later and never have owned another Ford. [IMG]

The plain XLT would have fallen between a Cheyenne and Silverado for basic trim. The Silverado would be closer to the Ranger XLT.

Pugsley, the only reason that Furd can say they sell more trucks is because GM splits its sales between GMC and Chevrolet. GM is a much larger corporation and sells many more vehicles than Furd does every year, yes even trucks. Go find the total sales figures from last year and add GMC and Chevy together and you will see that Furds claim that they have the best selling truck is a bunch of advertising garbage! I wish GM would produce a commercial to point out this fact!

That's true, I wasn't disputing that. But for overall market share, the Bronco always kept an edge over the Blazer.

They say they have a removable hard top standard because the K5 had an optional removeable hard top...Standard was a soft top. [IMG] Too bad nobody went with the soft top...

Which is funny, because looking at my optionslist in the glove box, unless i missed it completely, i don't think my top was listed as an option, but lo and behold there it is right on top of my truck, hmmmmm, another mystery,

But seriously, how many errors can you find on those six pages, You could get a part time with an automatic in 79 right? ok theres one, i'm sure there was a few more, but i do have to say that the other day when i was trying to read a map at 1:30Am i was thinking, "Damn i wish i had bought the Bronco, IT has a map light" and besides on page one you see them side by side, which ones better looking, it ain't the Ford!

Yeah, about the only advantage that Ford could have claimed was in the running gear and even that was pretty close.

That flyer says over and over again about how the V-6 is the standard Blazer motor and the Bronco standard motor is a V-8. It's funny that I've never seen a 6 cylinder engine in a Blazer, and I have seen several Fords with them. Also, many of their claims are based on the Blazer 4x2 (like power steering being an option) and the 4x2 was a very small market share of the Blazer.

I haven't looked at it since June, but I'm pretty sure the top was optional... along with a few other nice luxuries I have :D

equally equipped, the Bronco is $31 less than a Blazer... Better run out and get one!

79 K5 Blazer Cheyenne.... That's all I have to say about that.
