Can anyone tell me where I can find a bullet proof built 700R4 transmission that can handle a lot of HP and torque from a big block? Any web sites I can check out?.....Det45

Wow, that is a tough one. Do a search for this topic and read the info the guys that are in the know posted. I have little to no first hand knowledge about 700R4's, but from what I read, even a professional well built 700 will NOT handle a big block's torque. Think the highest rating I saw was 450 lb/ft off either a Jet tranny ad or someone else. Good luck on this one.

I have seen and owned many BB/700r combinations. If built properly they will hold up to reasonable abuse. A cooler is a must, corvette piston, later sprag, 9 clutch pack, heaver reaction carrier, high boost valves, and a stand alone unit with TV only. Using a 88 or newer tranny is a nice thing too. I'm no expert or anything.....just a user.

Try getting a 4L80E, JET rebuilds them, and makes stand alone computers for them. They can handle a big block stock, and after the rebuild they are capable of handling just about anything you want to throw at them.

5. try Steve at http://www.700R4.com, he builds nothing but overdrives for Chevy cars mainly, but trucks too. He has great prices and customer service is second to none. Check them out. JET and TCI make 700R4's at less specs then Steve at BadBowtie/700R4.com and sell them for much much much more.

I have beem very pleased with the one steve holmes built up for me. It is in a 3/4 ton 8600 GVW burb and has given no probs.
And gas milage went from 8 with a TH400 to 12 to 14 with the 700R4.
