I just saw a big Burb with the back half of the top cut of so a Blazer hard top can be installed. It looked like a Crew cab real short bed. The idea was cool but the work was a little on the rough side. Has any one on the board done this?

I just chopped mine off last week. mine's a little crude, but it's strictly an off road unit that gets trashed in the bush and mud. my main goal was to make it as short as possible (cut frame off right at rear shackles) but still have people capacity. I'm using the short truck fuel tank right behind the passenger compartment in between the wheelwells, my hydralic 14000lbs winch is going between the frame rails at the back (run by an engine mounted double belt clutch pump). see my before and after pics of my 87 suburban at

a friend of mine is chopping off an 86 suburban silverado 4x4 right now in a much more civilized manner (actually looks pretty good) will get some picks and post them. His brother also took a 84 suburban, chopped it off about 30 inches past the rear seat and used the cab back from a crewcab, then put 2 one ton dually frames together and put a 8 foot wide dually box behind. uses it to pull his stock car....looks like a big cowboy limo....just my 2 cents...ED

Just the other day I saw a full convertible 'burb, chopped from the windhshield on back. I was wondering if he went to the trouble of making his own full convertible hard top too by patching together two Blazer tops. Looked pretty cool I thought.
