CA smog differences on \'75 350 as opposed to \'80\'s 350

iam interested in purchasing a 1975 longbed on here in California. I know that the smog on my '81 was a hassle and i had to fix a few things. On this '75, there arent as many emmisons controls. can anyone do a compare on older smogged vehicles and 80's smogged vehicles? any input is appreciated.

There is so much variation by year even in the 70's alone. Heavy duty, light duty, CA emissions, Non-CA emissions, Federal emissions. I checked my emisson control reference guide and the 69-75 had a PCV valve, Evaporative canister, breather, and a TVS unit(what ever that is)

A 75 would have next to nothing. Especialy if the gvw is 6200# or above.

78 seems to be where things got nasty.

Your best bet is to go to any smog shop and have the smog tech look up the year/make/model of the vehicle in question and he can tell you whats required for both Ca and federal emmisions standards.

just to let you know. you do not need to smog your 75 truck in calif. i asked the same question to the DMV here in calif. they said 75 and older does not need smog. sad thing is i own a 78 blazer. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Well it's 74 and older for now but if you have it like me, I have a 75 that I smogged last year so I will not need to smog it untill next year which is when it will be exempt.
Now if you are buying a 75 , you will have to smog it because of the transfer of title and it will be the last time ever.
