I was trying to order some headers from Summit and it told me that the headers were not legal here in California.
Are any of you guys running street legal headers?

    everythings legal on a 73 :)

as far as your year, i think most companies make a smog legal version, you just need to make sure you order that one. If you call Summit, im sure a salesperson would have a better answer for you
be prepared to shell out more $

I have JBA Calif. legal headers. They have to have a smog legal plate stating they are certified. Same benefits, same power, just a hassle.

Summitracing is retarded, if you order a t-shirt from them and you are in california they have to tell you "we sell parts that are not legal for use in california" blah blah......

Check here, it is a complete list of all aftermarket parts that California has issued and O.E. number for.

The problem is not buying them. The problem comes when you take it in to get it smogged and there is not O.E. number on them. That is all the state cares about.

I ran edelbrock headers on my 86 to keep it legal. It had the plate on them and even had a spot for the O2 sensors if you need one. They were pricey at about 350 I think but it kept me legal while I needed it.
