I'm not in california or wont be going but i have something to say california related. I read this in a 4x4 mag a few years ago. If you swap in an engine, it has to be the same size as the original one or smaller. If yuo swap in an engine, it has to be the same year or newer then your vehicle. Theres a few more but I forgot them. Some of you guys probably know all this but I have seen lots of 4x4s in cali with older and bigger then stock engines.

Burt, Posted to you early last week. Only posted to wrong guy. Posted to Chevy4x4. He must think I'm on drugs. Been wanting to hook up California k5ers. Pismo is out of the question. Tranny and T-case are out of truck. Need another 3 to 4 mos to complete the work I started. Tranny and t-case will be done this week. Then doing suspension and adding a winch. Been wanting to try some rock crawlin, never done this. Might be wise to have an Old Timer excuse me Old Hand (lol) around. Live in Castaic near the grapevine(Hungry Valley and Gorman) Maybe we can hook up somewhere near Fresno in another 6mos. Would like to meet other k5ers in Central to So. Cal. Lots of trail riding in the Angeles Crest forest, not much rock though
    Peace
    James

Yes. About 1hr in the K5 and 40 min. in the Camaro(hehehe) provided no CHP around. Just south of bakersfield. Either of the locations posted would be doable for my family, provided the blazer comes along as expected. Will post pics of 73convert soon

The good thing is that the rules only apply to '74 and newer. I've got a '73 so I don't have any worries there. I'd consider the pismo trip, but this is a drill weekend for me, and then I'm flying out to Hawaii to work for a couple of weeks.

I think if you were to sell a car/truck and/or get an emmisions check would be the only time you really would have to worrie about a differnt motor being in there. As Jason73K5 said the checks are only done on 74 and up, so I'm exempt also [IMG], another advantage of Old Iron!! The list just keeps gettin better and better[IMG]
