I have recently acquired a 010 block that is a 4 blt main, high nickel block. It has the factory cam, and I would like to cross reference this cam to see what the specs are on it. The GM part # is GM22 6930. Any help on where or how to do this would be appreciated!

    thanks

I looked at www.gmparts.com thinking maybe i could look up the part #, but wasn't able to. Anyone know of a website that i could look at? I would really like to know the specs on the cam. The came is in good shape. If it is a 300 or 350 horse, i will reuse the cam. If not, i will probably go with a performer.

    thanks

Well, I posted it on ChevyMania and nobody answered. I checked the #'s on my block and it told me what i already knew. Anybody have another website? How about a Chevy Power Book? My dad told me that the info is in their;, but I can't find his copy and I work the same hours that the chevy house works.

    thanks

First off, I bet that "010" matches the last 3 of the casting number. Still not buying into the "high nickel block theory" no attack on you, just have yet to see proof (such as GM literature, or an 010 block that wasn't actually a block that had a casting number ending in 010) that 010=high nickel...ANYWAY...how about getting the suffix code off the block, and checking it out at http://www.dorianyeager.com/index2.html

As far as the nickel goes, I'm just going by what an old timer ( My Father) with years of experience rebuilding and researching info on GM's. It's ashame that he can't find his book because it would answer my question. I looked the block casting #'s up on Chevy Mania and all it said was it was a 69-79 block with hp ratings from 165-375 and could be a 2 0r 4 bolt main block. That tells me nothing that i didn't already know. Thanks for the web site! I will try there and see what i come up with!

    thanks again

    Thanks dyeager535

I found what i was looking for at nastyz28.com. My engine was originally a 255 hp, so i will be replacing the cam.
