I've considered putting herculiner on the inside of my k5 instead of having it professionally sprayed while it is down anyway.

I'm curious if I can apply this in multiple layers on the floor for extra thickness for the insulating value.

also, does herculiner fade, and is there products that can be sprayed on top if it for UV protection???

    Jeff,

Herculiner can be put on in numerous coats. In fact 2 is recomended. If you let more then 24 hrs pass though you need to scuff up the liner you already put down. Herculiner will fade if exposed to UV rays... I am using a UV clear coat from Non-rust

solo: not sure how many coats you can apply on your tub. In a few places inside mine there are 3 coats. Never tried to add any more but I have little doubt it would work fine. Herculiner is adhesive as hell...so it shouldn't be a problem.

BTW, you've been on CK5 long enough to have heard this before...but whatever you do, wear elbow length gloves. The first time I used it I was like "its ok, I dont have to wear them the WHOLE time"....wrong!! I had black striped hands several days. Kinda annoying. ;)

AFA fading, it will definitely fade in the sun. I have never used it myself, but some common rattle can UV pro clear coat oughta work a-ok.

good luck with your herc project,

    J

actually I'm setting here looking at things, and I'm looking at the price of gray herculiner... that stuff is $39 more a gallon!!! for $139 a gallon, man I think I can have something sprayed for the same price as long as I do all the prep work.

time will tell which direction I go... I'm going to have IE down & out for awhile so I might as well as do everything I want to it while it is down. it will probably be down for 4-5 months at this point so what is a couple more gonna be?

Hey solo, you might try contacting Durabak. Herculiner and Durabak come out of the same factory but Herculiner was designed for the do-it-yourselfer. I talked to Durabak about getting some white, so they might have some gray for ya. Sorry I don't know the numbers for Durabak, but I'm sure you can find something on the web.

I'm still debating buying a few gallons of safety yellow and small cans of white, black, red and blue and going with a dukes of hazard theme on the blazer! [IMG]

man those guys have a ton of colors compared to all the others I've looked up! [IMG] only company I've seen that has white (and white is a color I'd like to use on my restoration)
