I have np 205 and i was wondering if i could put lower gears in it, like 3.1 to 1 instead of the stock 1.96 to 1, because when i swapped out my th 700 and np 208 and put in a th 400 and np 205 my crawl ratio went from 32 to 1 to 19 to 1 and that really sucks.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Not yet, a certain company was supposed to be making a "kit" but it's on the back burner now, sorry, I had the same idea. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

I always wanted to put 2 trannys in a row,or perhaps 2 transfer cases, think of the gear ratios possible then!.But there are underdrives available as well as overdrive units available from gear vendors. The bigger trucks like C-60's used to have two transmissions back in the old days. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your crawl ratio sounds awfully low, even for a TH400/NP205 setup.....what axle gears are you running? Did you factor in a 2X multiplier for the stall converter?

Anyway....no such thing as 3:1 for an NP205....people have tried and failed again and again. Those that say it's possible couldn't do it in any type of cost effective way, so it becomes a non-issue. For what you'd pay, you could do MANY other things instead.

NP203's are available in 3.1:1 ratio....buy an ORD Doubler and one of the Wagoner Machine 3.1:1 NP203's if you really feel the need to crawl....total reduction is 1.96 (NP205) x 3.189 (NP203), so it's something in the 6:1 range....

There are always Atlas or Klune V options too, but you don't seem to see those much on full-size trucks.
