Our right to legally keep & bear arms is being blamed for illegal use of guns in Toronto? WTF?

i dont think it is a repost.
the clame is but there was just a shoot out the other day in T.O. and 7 bystanders were hit.

yes it is the US's liberal guns that in crease our gun crime ONLY because out crimanals smugel them across the border. and OUR custom agents dont catch them.

be happy you have the right to bare arms WE DON"T and they are proposing a all out BANN on handguns, to further move the curent restriction.

that means no sale of guns and ALL owners MUST relinquish ALL hand guns.

you have to admit if it wasent so easy to buy a gun in the state crimanals ( US and canadain) would be suggleing them into canada

The truth hurts sometimes brother. Whether you like it or not, 50% of the handguns on the street are smuggled into Canada from the USA. Does the average guy blame the citizens of the US for the crimes commited by Canadian hoodlums with said guns? Of course not. That's plain silly......

Like I said a while ago in a similar thread on the same topic, don't get all bent out of shape because some politician is using a tragedy to get airtime and further his agenda.

Relax Jeremy. If you want me to make your comments seem stupid, I can do a little research to prove to you that murders with handguns per capita are WAY higher in the USA compared to Canada.

    Let me know..........

FWIW, I don't have any problems with gun ownership. However, when someone reads two paragraphs of an article and gets upset enough to want to, and I quote, email that to the NRA, along with a link to that story so he can start recieving some nasty calls and messages, the average guy who has already decided that Americans have a zealot-like relationship with their guns can feel justified with his opinions.

C'mon, I'm sure that politicians in the US say stupid **** about Canada everyday. I've heard a few comments lately that made me shake my head. Does that mean I'm gonna get all twisted about them and post them here and get angry? Nope. Politicians will do ANYTHING to get their name in the spotlight.

bring it on Pauly, i'm up for it. the UK has banned all guns, IIRC, and their violent crimes involving guns has skyrocketed. i believe that was brought up in the last thread.

Okay, I spent 5 minutes and did a little search and came up with these links. They are simple stats that don't show the circumstances around the murders, but take a look for yourself:

I'm not gonna get into a debate about your constitutional rights or turn this thing into a ****show worthy of getting locked, and I'm not gonna be part of an us vs. them argument. I can't verify the accuracy of the stats in the links, but if they are even half accurate they show at the very least that the amount and availability of handguns in the USA is probably a factor in the amount of handgun murders your country sees.

The only stat that I could find is this one:

The Centre for Defence Studies at Kings College in London, which carried out the research, said the number of crimes in which a handgun was reported increased from 2,648 in 1997/98 to 3,685 in 1999/2000.

I'd like to compare that 3685 figure to US stats for the same period....... It also makes no effort to distinguish how many of those crimes were murders.

Anyhow, thanks for your input. It's nice to see somebody back up their argument with some facts.:thumb:
