I was going to say something but I was out pulling on my passenger side fender [IMG]

I don't watch alot of racing but I thought it was pretty entertaining.

I caught the last 4 laps. I was in the garage doing some body damage of my own.

Sounded like a good race. Bummed I missed it.

I thought it was a great race. Lots of action Nobody got hurt, and I loved seeing Gordon spin himself out at the end.
looks like the season's off to a good start.

The only thing I didn't like about it was NBCs rotten coverage . They dont know the first thing about brodcasting a race. NASCAR should Black Flag them [IMG] Lousy camera angles, lousey announcers who cant even rember peoples names. Way too many commercials at the wrong times. And the only cars they show are the front runners go round and round. They miss all the action in the back feild.
I'm glad FOX is doing most of the other races. they do a better job.
I sure miss the old days when ESPN did a lot of the races.

I never was into Nascar until Dale died, and then I watched my first race (couldn't drag myself though em before). anyway I was hooked after I watched my race. to make a long story short I didn't watch when ESPN was covering.

Been a NASCAR fan since '63......don't care much for Ward Burton, but I like Jeff, and I like to see the Dodge boys back in action.....really glad that little E had trouble, here's hopin' he goes all season without a win (didn't like his rough drivin' daddy either).....glad to see the California Flash spin himself out at the end, but at least he admitted it was his own fault.....woulda liked to have seen Terry finish a little better, it's been a while for him.....I always pull for Bobby (18), and Benson is a hard worker......don't care for Stewarts attitude, but he's one hell of a driver and he dislike Gordon as much as I do.....sorry to see DJ get crossed up that near the end........I've been to 9 tracks so far, driven 5 of them (Petty driving experience).......Man, I'm glad the season is back.....JD

Stuck?...Hell no..I still got some gas left..

speaking of DJ what a bone head... he kept blocking MW in hopes off getting to the top, but MW had a good car, and DJ knew he couldn't get up there. after several attempts he would have let him around. [IMG]

Poor Dale Earnhardt jr. He sure had some crappy luck, but he kept getting out there and wouldnt give up. I like him allot and happend to be a huge fan of his father. The most exciting part of the race was when Jeff Gordon spun out. Boy was I happy! What was up with Sterlin pulling his fender? What a bone head. They were right in the middle of deciding if he went over the yellow line to gain a possition and he jumps out to fix his car? Hello....dumb move. Im glad burton got a win becuase he hasnt had one yet and it is nice to see when one gets his first Daytona 500 win. Im releived noone was hurt in the big crash. I cant wait for the rest of the season. Im so glad its back!!!!!!! :)

hmmm...i never could watch nascar. I'm sure racing would be fun, but just sitting and watching it is kinda like watching golf. A whole barrel of monkeys.

Now drag racing on the other hand....

Re: can\'t believe there isn\'t a post yet about the Daytona 500

    Great race.
As far as Sterling pulling his fender. He knew that A.) He was already going to be put at the back of the pack for crossing the yellow line (even though he and his crew played ignorant) and B.) His fender would have cut his tire if he kept going (even if he would be going to the pit anyways, it sucks trying to do it on a flat). So he knew he was alreay going to be put at the back of the pack, so he figured he might as well try to keep the tire from being punctured. At that point he had nothing to lose (I probably would have done the same thing given the initial penalty of crossing the yellow line).

I also think they should rule out the "blocking mirrors". Those things caused most of the accidents, but I am glad that it was the cause of Gordon spinning (he tried to block and took himself out). Oh well, it will be up to popular "fan" opinion as to whether they stay or go (my personal vote is to get rid of them and let the drivers and the spotters decide when to come down the track).

Why gripe about the coverage? My copy, the reception was so bad most of the time I just listened to it until the end when the reception came back in. Jeff Gordon actually accepting responsibility, who enlightened him? Dale Jr, rough day hope he comes back. Sterling Marlin, hopping out while on the track, that's classic and I'm lovin it. Ward winning, AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

say, does anyone know where i can a breakdown on winston cup vs. busch series? the wife and i are kinda lost when the drivers run in the different series.
i just went to nascardotcom, but i couldn't find anything useful.
i thought busch was kinda a stepping-stone into the bigs, but i see alot of the same drivers in both races the same weekend.

Re: can\'t believe there isn\'t a post yet about the Daytona 500

It was decided that sterlin did not cross the yellow line to gain a possition. So he was pushed to the back becuase he worked on his car. If he would have stayed put while they were making a decision he would have found out that he didnt cross the line to gain a possition and had kept his spot. I guess winning that daytona makes everyone go out of there gord :)

I was excited about gordon spinning out too. It was the best part of the race! :):):)

I was disappointed to see Harvick go out. he is a young driver that's pretty exciting, but that move was pretty boneheaded. I don't believe for a second that Gordon couldn't have back off.
