    Can\'t decide...good deal or not? RS9012s

Got a deal to buy 4 RS9012s with around 15,000 road miles on them for $90. I was all set to do this when I got the following email. It reads:

I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GOT MY LAST EMAIL. I'LL CHECK ON THE SHIPPING COSTS AND GET A BOX FOR THEM. THE GUY JUST CAME AND PICKED UP THE OTHER 4 SHOCKS. I JUST NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE SHOCKS THE KNOB ONLY STAYS IN THE 1 AND 2 POSITION (1& 2 THE SOFTEST SETTINGS) AND IS STIFF WHEN TURNING WHEN TRYING TO GO TO THE 3,4, & 5 POSITION. REALLY NOT A BIG DEAL THOUGH, I ALWAYS RUN THE SHOCKS ON THE 1 POSITION WHEN FULL OF GAS AND BED EMPTY AND BUMP IT UP TO THE 2 POSITION FULL OF GAS AND A LOAD OR CAMPING STUFF IN THE BED. RUNNING ON THE 3,4, & 5 POSITIONS IS WAY TO STIFF WHEN YOU DOUBLE THESE SHOCKS UP. REMEMBER, NEVER, NEVER MOUNT THESE SHOCKS UPSIDE DOWN. MEANING THE CAN OF THE SHOCK TO THE TOP, THE ADJUSTER KNOW MUST BE SUBMERST IN THE SHOCK OIL. OTHERWISE YOU GET A "DEAD SPOT". TRUST ME THEY WORK BETTER WITH THE CAN ON THE BOTTOM. I'LL EMAIL YOU IN THE MORNING ON THE SHIPPING. THANKS PAUL

I'm not running mine in tandem, and don't really know if I'll need the 3,4,and 5 settings. What settings do yall usually use crawling and going fast in the whoops? Good deal or should I just get the Pro Comp ES3000s for approx the same money?

As always, thanks for any input you have.

    Bryan

Well dont you remove the knobs when going to an in cab adjuster? Just get one of those and you wont hae to worry about a tight knob! LOL

Don't know the difference between 9000's and 9012's, but I run my dual front 9000's on 1 all the time and the single rear 9000's on 1 or 2. Tried 3, but I never go fast enough to warrent that much stiffness.

I think they have lifetime warranty. see if you can take them to a 4x4 shop and exchange the broken one.

Call rancho, sorry don't have the 800 # handy.
Rancho say all 9000 series schoks can be run upside down, for ever
it will not effect the warrenty or the performance.
The letter you got is all b.s. opinion, and misinformatiom.
    Good luck

9000 is the series of shocks. Rancho has the 5000 series and the 9000 series of shocks. (They used to also have a 1000 series. Don't know if they still sell that series or not).

Anyway, the actual correct shock for you application is denoted by the last 2 digits of the number. Hence, the 9012 is the really long 9000 series shock with eye mounts on each end.
