Does anyone in the CO area have a line on a cheaper car trailer that I might be able to pick up ASAP to tow my K5 around with? I need a trailer capable of 7,000lbs & has to have brakes on 1 axle at least.

I am hoping to try and find something in the 1000-1500 range for a good used roadworthy trailer. New ones start around 2100. I really don't/didn't want to buy a trailer right now but my towbar isn't the most legal form of towing the K5 I found out unfortunately.

You are looking for a 10K rated trailer - you can get new for around $2000???? I would have jumped on that price in a heartbeat.

My rig weighed in at 6400lb partially loaded - I had to spring for the heavier load. My guy only had the 12k in stock at the time so he gave it to me at $100 more than the 10k. I was still at about $4000 fully optioned out the door - chains, binders, Prodigy, spares, etc....

We paid $2600 for our 10,000# trailer. That includes taxes registration. blah, blah. Father-in-law and I are remembering that the 7,000# trailers were only a few hundred dollars less.

All the 18' 7K car trailers I can find right now are $2200 an up. The 10K trailers I have looked at today start at $3200 or so. I have applied for a little loan from the bank so I can buy a trailer and if it goes threw I should be buying a trailer tomorrow most likely unless something else comes up between now and then.

Thanks for the help with the links and looking. I actually think I am going to be buying my trailer out in your neck of the woods in Eaton. They have a 18' 7K for $2400 w/spare tire & it is silver like my truck.

I bet you're talking about the place on the North side of Eaton. They have a bunch of trailers there.

If you see this before you buy one, AKD Sales, Inc in Greeley is the outfit we bought ours from earlier this year. Their number is 378-0233. They're Temco trailers FWIW. The thing I liked about the 10,000lb trailers is they have heavy fenders.
