I have been away form the Blazer Forum for a long time. Now I'm back. I bought a new car a while back and have not even driven my K5 in months. Due to the recent flooding here in Houston I had to go back to the K5. I wasn't sure that it would even start; to my surprise it did. The truck is out of inspection and it runs real rich. They do the " sniffer test " here so I need to get the Carb. replaced.

The Blazer is an 85 w/a 350. All the computer junk has been removed from the truck. Right now it has a Holley 600 w/ electric choke. The Holley was new and always ran rich no matter what. I'm looking at getting a Q-jet to replace it. I would like to know If I have to get one of those $400 Eldebrocks or can I just go to Autozone and get one? Does anyone have the part number or a Q-jet w/ electric choke.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Charles

Well the edlebrock one is NEW. The Autozone one is rebuilt by...get this....Holly. Every time I got one of those I ended up having to take it back 2-3 times before I got a good one. You may get lucky and get a good one but don't count on it. Be ready to swap it 2 times. Get a carb off a 79. It will suport all your emmisions crud and you can convert it to electric choke easy. Or get the get the one from Edlebrock with the electric choke and be done with it.

'82 305 Blazer had electric choke, and was an 800CFM unit, IF they even care when they throw the rebuilt ones in a box. Real surprised to hear about the Holleys, they are SUPPOSED to be dyno tested before leaving I thought! (dyno tested on what who knows lol)

Edelbrock builds some great Q-jets from what I understand. I'm running one of there performers and I love it.
