carrier bearings

    The most common thing to notice is grumbling on deceleration. Best way to check is to pull the cover and check the fluid. If a carrier bearing is going out, you'll usually get metal shavings in the fluid. You can get more involved and take off the bearing caps and look at the bearings and races. Just make sure you keep track of which side everything was on.

    if they are really bad you should get a little side to side play in the carrier it self.
