cat converter on my 97 6.5 TD

    My 97 is a 2500HD (GVW 8600) so why does it have a cat converter on it??? I thought that the HD trucks were exempt?

    Mines a light duty Jimmy and it doesnt have a cat. Maybe its something else, I dont think any diesels had cats. Maybe im wrong.

    AFAIK it's not a cat but a combination soot trap / resonator.
