Ok, i know NOTHING, AT ALL about cb's. My friend is tryin to get me to get one. Anyway, lookin around big price diff's from 39 to 359. Can y'all tell me if one of these 2 cb's are anygood, why you would get one over the other, etc. Im thinkin about a 102" whip as my antennae mounted on the rear bumper, probably on passenger side. Any help greatly appreciated.

Uniden is better than cobra and not much more expensive... It's best to have it centered over largest metal surface on the vehicle. If it's just for shorter range type communications then the antenna should be fine... For trail use you'll probably want a fiberglass that'll stay below roof-line... /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif That's just so that big 102" whip doesn't go whippin' around and hurting people, etc... /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

Just my opinions... In fact factory refurb Uniden Grant LT (I think LT was the later one) should be about the best buy you can find, best audio quality, and so forth... I think you can get them from Uniden direct or a local shop "should" be able to get one from them I believe...

It's best to buy from a CB shop and let them set you up... Might cost a few dollars more but at least the local one here will go to great lengths to make sure the customer is happy and if you buy the antenna from them, they'll set the SWR free... SWR is important so you don't burn out transmitter and to make sure it's operating as efficiently as possible... /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif

I would stay away from Radio Shack, also, the sound tracker system that Cobra has is nice, but only works if the other person you're talking to also has a cobra with sound tracker. So pretty worthless in my opinion. Uniden is good, but I'd go with a Texas Ranger. You can get one at http://bigfoot8170.tripod.com/ look under new products. I personally run a 10 meter export radio converted for 11 meter.
