i have an 88 jimmy, and i dont have even a cassette dack. With the positraction out of reach, i am thinking about a CD or cassette deck. I would put more speakers in later, but i want to play my music in the jimmy on the way to school ,and while i cruise the streets of GA. Any help would be appreciated.

I run a clarion cd player in the Jimmy. That thing has held up to everything including the rollover (6 times), and it even fell out of the dash and hit the steering colum a few times when I was rolling. As for the Burb I put a kenwood excelon 817 with screen savers and motorized flip down, etc. That thing is awsome, especially the indy car driving around the track.

did you have to cut or modify the dash to fit the CD in the jimmy?

I did on both of mine, buts its really easy. Basically you cut out where the knobs use to be and they fit in just fine. If yours if a din and a half (not sure if they were in 88, but were in 89) but they make a dash kit for 20 bucks to make a normal din stereo fit in the din and a half. Saves you alot of money that way.

I'll agree with DesertDueler, I had a clarion in an IROC. I went over train tracks in the road and it didnt even skip (you know how stiff an IROC camaro is.).
