Do your CD's sound good in other cd players? check your grounds. check your speakers, then check your deck

Does it only sound that way with cd's or also with the radio? It sounds more like a speaker problem then the cd player.

I've always borrowed the disc that is suposta clean the unit from friends. Always seamed to work for me. I've heard you should use them, and I've heard you shouldn't use them. I can't say either way. I will say it worked for me.

Compressed or canned air is the WORST thing you could do to clean the headunit because it pushes dirt farther inside the internals of the player itself. Try the cleaner disk since it makes the noise on just the cd player and not the tuner. If that doesn't work the the laser is perm. damaged or faulty.

Yeah I figured that. THe head unit is old about 6 years. I'm gonna save up and buy a new unit. Ether Kenwood ,or Pioneer. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

    I'd agree with that.

I carry Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC, Panasonic, and Clarion. I feel that Pioneer has gone downhill to a degree as JVC steped up into the market. I still swear by Clarion and you can't beat the Panasonic for skip protection and warranty. I am looking into Eclipse again, it's been a few years since I have personally sold them, but a friend of mine owns another shop in northern NM and he will do anything to sell an Eclipse because he NEVER gets them in for warranty work. They are one of the few people that will guarantee their headunits for a full 3 years also. Panasonic does offer a 2 year though on thier MXE line.
