It seems that the chat room has become the place to hang out in the last couple of months. I really enjoy it when I have the time, it gives me a chance to get to know everyone much better.
I do have a problem with some things that are done there occasionally though. As most of you know you can log in to the chat room with whatever name you choose to type in. This can lead to all sorts of chaos (which is mostly fun...[IMG])

I would just like to ask everyone to refrain from using another users name when they are not there. Its gotten to the point when I see "coloradok5" log in I'm almost 100% sure its not Steve. Last night I saw that and if it was you Steve I'm sorry for ignoring you...[IMG]
I was talking to another member in there fairly late last night and he was very upset...it seems he logged in as guest to see what was shaking and when he got in someone was using his user name and acting like a total ass. This guy is one of the real "Class acts" on this site and has been here for a long time and helped many people out, and I think it is an embarrassment to have this happen.
I myself tryed to log in to the chat one night a while ago, I couldn't get in under any variation of my name because they were all being used...I got in as guest and left 5 minutes later absolutely furious! Last night my name was hi-jacked again after I left...I have no idea what was 'jokingly' said under my name but I'm not impressed!

If you have the uncontrollable urge to impersonate someone, make it a name that leaves no doubt you're just being a jack-ass. Nobody likes to think they are being mocked!

As it is now I have a personal password I share with a few people to confirm who I am when i log on...does it have to be like that?

Lets clean it up and continue to have fun OK?

    Rene...I'm off the soapbox now!

I hear you there - A couple of weeks ago I caught mine being used and haven't been back since.

I agree Rene! To take someones name and act like an idiot is low. Hopefully, people can engage in more intelligent forms of humor. [IMG]

    Like my big smart-words? LOL!

I came in one night and someone used my "thatK30guy" and lucky for me, I came in as "K30". I knew something was fishy. [IMG]

Just for everybody's info. I have never came in as somebody else, nor used anybody elses username. Those who know me, know I come in as 'famous people'. My most popular one is 'Boyce Equipment'. [IMG]

I agree with tRusty/Rene, this causes too much confusion and can lead to defamation of character. [IMG]

Hopefully this will end it -I've been missing the late night "beer and blab" sessions.

I agree... it's fun to goof off. But it's gone too far. I'd be ticked off to know someone was using my name. I know I logged in under other names but these were not CK5 user names...these were Monica, Hillary and Brittany Spears. I'd never go that far as to someone else like Steve. If I wanted too though it'd be way easy to do it. But that's where using your brain comes in. Just because you can do it and it's easy doesn't mean you should! If you wanna goof around then that's cool... do it! We all love to have fun! But leave the names alone for CK5 members. If you want to make others look bad then hit the road and look for another home! I think the whole Bill Clinton, Al Gore and whoever else we logged in as is fine... I mean if you log in under a name like that people will know it's fake and you aren't pretending to be an actualy CK5 member. Of course that can be taken too far so that needs to be watched too. As far as anyone logging on as members other then their own name... might I suggest you get caught doing that and you get banned from the site for 30 days. Do it again and see ya forever. I think if common sense is used we can all have fun and not worry about this... of course it al comes down to that keyword SENSE! So use some! [IMG]

<font color=purple> You beat me to the post , Rene. I agree totaly . I don't think it's too funny to have another person log in as a different member ! Let's be fair to all the others in here. That is one sure way to destroy another's good reputation....... it may be the diiference of another person NOT answering a very important question because of the poor behavior from another user under their name. It's not fair and should come to an end imediately ! I would NEVER do this to another of my brothers and sisters. I did log in as BUTTMAN once as a joke but came back in right away and stated it was me. I feel this is totally different however. Let's be respectful of our friends and to the people who have been helpful in here........ this type of behavior may just be enough for that person to leave here all together...and that would be a shame !!!

    SEMPER K5 !!!!!!!!!!

So you mean all that stuff you told me about worshiping the devil isn't true??? Thank goodness. OK, just kidding. You are absolutely right. People that do that crap need to go back to Jr. High and leave CK5 alone.

I'm gonna add this too.... in the chat watch what you say. I've seen some pretty offensive stuff. There's a fine line between joking and being flat out nasty. I think most of us know it however. But just in case someone who might not know it's all in joking comes in you might wanna watch that... one night some of the stuff I read... WOW! So try to remember the fact that some people don't want to see stuff like that! [IMG]

we oughta get Steve to make the chatroom so it validates usernames and passwords... if it comes down to $$$ then let use know what it costs to do it and maybe some of the members would be willing to donate to get it setup

I thought you had to use your password to log on, guess not, that is the dumbest thing I 've ever heard of. Even if you did have to use your password, would it make it so you'd have to use your username... I don't even see how people think thats funny its just dumb, HUH!!! signed Coloradok5,,, err uh chevyfumes!

This is why I've never gone in the chat room..
Can't believe someone had the balls to use Rene's name in a chat room...
Goes to show... chat room's suck because of inconsiderate people.

Well I haven't been on much of late... been very busy, but I hope this nonsense stops now. If you want to use someone else's name use BOYCE EQUIPMENT and I'm sure you'll get all the fun you need... and a thrashing too LOL. I dunno if mine has been stolen, but would hatre to think someone is acting like a jerk using my name and reputation [IMG]. I take a lot of pride in being a nice guy. I have logged in as another user...but that was a planned tatic among us in the chatroom on good ole buddy Wes. I wasn't doing anything or acting like a jerk... only holding the name so when he came back from checking his mail he's be like WTF? LOL... I did give him his name back after a little joking LOL.

I agree w/ Solo... None of use should have to ask a million questions to find out if it is Rene... lara...wes... or whoever we are really talking to. Come on guys... let's keep this great place great!

Yeah, that kind of stuff sucks big time. I've never signed in as anyone but me and I don't think anyone has used my name (at least that I know of, but how would I?). I've only been in the room maybe twice (three times?) and it has always been pretty tame stuff. The only way this is going to stop is if there is a password put on the room. Problem is, without passwords, people can act like asses even when the log in using their own name. Later, if their are repercussions, they can always deny and say their name was hijacked...
