Hay (straw) bale insulation... good insulation, but thickness steal alot of space. stylafoam sheets, is what I use so you could do it as you go and it's easy to cut & install.

strawbales thats funny. i am using it as shop and will probably not drywall or plywood or whatever over the insulation till later on. has anybody used the radiant barrier that is kinda like foil? i thought about going this route since it would be flamable and would help reflect light lowes or homedepot has a 4x125 foot section for 62 bucks. i would have about $186 going this route just for the side walls.

I am the supervisor for simonson Insulation crew been insulating for about 4 years and I will tell you dont scrimp on insulation the more the better the more you spend now means less youll be spending later (heating) the spray in foam is the best out there now, in some cases it will increase strength in the building up to 75% !! Thats a huge number but it cost is alot

what is your studs at 2' 16''on center? get me dimensions and pitch and I can run the numbers and get you a general on what all the diferent insulations should cost:)

You could always stack the hay bales outside the building.

What would your neighbors think if they saw you pulling in and out of a giant haystack.
