Those are some pretty cool machines to see work. I saw a show on something similar on TLC. The cutting head was exactly the same and it could selectively log an area without damaging any of the surrounding woods. It was as efficient as pulling a single hair out with a tweezer. It had an onboard computer that would analyze the tree, the surrounding trees and the terrain as well as identify the most efficient use of the tree and what lengths to cut it into and then it would go to work. In under 20 seconds it would clamp onto the base of the tree and sever it, then guide it down to the ground where it would de-branch and cut to size. The ones I saw had a logging trailer type bed so it would also load the logs and transport out of the area too.

The eco-nazis will find something to bitch about. Probably will claim it messes up the mating habits of the grass hopper /forums/images/icons/mad.gif
