Alright for a while now I've been having a little problem with chest pains. Last 2 instances I can think of it happening are, a week ago we went to the tractor pulls. Before we went in my buddy said he had to Smirnoff drinks that had to be killed since no alcohol was allowed in. So I volunteer, hey its alcohol. He and I chug these two and we go in. Half way to the gate my chest starts hurting. Not like heartbeat pain. Like erratic heartbeat pain. After a little bit it went away. I have this happen often when I drink those Smirnoff things. Then I drank at least a 6 pack of Coors Light another friend brought in, no problems.

So anyway, the second recent was the other night out to eat. I had 3 cherry cokes with my dinner(made with maraschino cherries, damn thats so good). Anyway about the start of the third one, sure enough same pains in my chest. The two times I've noted this happening are, when I drink Smirnoff, and when I drink dark sodas.

Some folks have said "caffeine", but I don't believe that for a second. I drink at least a half gallon of iced tea and a cappucinno a day. The idea that that caffeine wouldn't effect me but a coke would, just doesn't sound right. I'm thinking it has more to do with the sugar.

    Thoughts?

could be a combo of caffine and sugar.... but then again I didn't think cappucino was light on sugar either

If I drink soda at any point in the day before hard exercise I usually get chest pain. Are you getting them while just sitting around?

Why don't you just cut back on the sugar and see what happens ?? Or go see a doc it might be a bigger problem than you think .

just sitting around. If it hard excercise related I'd be more understanding. There is a huge family history of diabetes, main reason I'm even mildly concerned about it. Think I should just schedule a doctors appointment.

Don't think Cappucinno is low on sugar, neither is the iced tea I drink. I am just finishing up a half gallon of Orange Iced Tea for the day... 25g of sugar per serving. One half gallon is almost 8 servings... wow almost 200g of sugar...

Could be "Atrial Fibulation"(A-Fib) (Do a google on it)Booze is known to induce it. Ask your Doc. about it when you go. Next time this happens feel your pulse on your neck or wrist and see it feels iregular.

Smirnoff is the only alcohol that does it to me. I can drink a lot of alcohol and the only other problems be puking when its been a bit too much, haha.

I see a link between Atrial Fibulation and Caffeine though.

That should be a hint not to drink them.

    That should be another.

Go see a Dr. and lay off of the sugar.

It is probably just indigestion. Take some antacids, when you feel chest pains, and see if this stops it. I get the same problem from drinking too much soda, or eating too many rich foods.

no I know indigestion, I suffer from acid reflux. It is an entirely different pain in a different part of my chest.
