    \"Chevrolet\" on tailgate...

My rig should be out of the paint shop sometime next week and I won't be reinstalling my silver "Chevrolet" banner on my tailgate, as it's in rough shape. I was wondering what you guys have done on your tailgates to personalize your truck. The color is factory black/grey two tone so the middle of the tailgate that used to have the banner will be silver. I was thinking something along the lines of a piece of self-adhesive stainless with a black CHEVROLET decal.........Any other ideas?

I used to see a RamCharger in my neighborhood that had a piece of diamondplate on the tailgate and then the letters were over that.

I was thinking of getting a decal made similar to the one on the newer chevy pick ups.. It is about 3"-4" high the lenght of the gate and is just "CHEVROLET".

My 72K5 has the full word accross the center and places like ChevyDuty and LMC sell a Letter decal kit to fill the tailgate letters in the sheetmetal. It sounds like this decal kit may be what your looking for , if it's the right style and size,You can kinda see the size of what I'm talkin about on this pick here.......

When I redo the wifes 79 we are tossing around the idea to smooth out the gate by welding in a peice of flat steel so it will have the same lines as the side of the truck. I may also french the license plate if there is enough room to clear the window gear. Might loose the door handles and rain gutters also :) Just a key switch to operate some solinoids to pop the doors. I think sombody has a one peice window out now where you take out the vent windows. DAMN! I might end up having to let the wife have the garage back if I ever do half what I talk about doing! Can't leave a nice sano truck out in the yard. Then I guess I'll have to custom out my Supra so I can get the garage back LOL.

    I put mine back on...

I wanted a semi-stock look on my 82. I replaced mine with a fresh panel, but left the "Chevrolet" trim off. It cleaned the rear quit a bit. I also shaved the handle/key hole hump as well. These two combined make a HUGE difference in the rear. This worked for me, but mine is a 2wd, and I wanted a smooth look...
