i have seen the newer stepside beds on older trucks, the body line of the stepsides lines up with the body lines of the older style, the fleetside beds of the newer style don't have the upper body line so it does look a little funky /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

77 or 79 went back to driver side filler, same year as door started for gas filler, and 81 was new hinge design year, same as front clip design change

Try to get the filler necks & hoses with the bed. It can be a pain in the rear to mix and match fill & vent hoses. Like the other guys said on the tail gate hinges...

My 77 is on the passenger side...no gas door...just a cap
On the k5's...I'm pretty sure they started the gas door in 79'...
I wonder if the p/u's and k5s have anything in common...

gas filler door started on 79 models, and they were on the passenger side until the new body style in 1988

edit: i think the change was in 1981 on single tanks

was it a dual tank, both my 87's have dual tanks, but i seem to recall that they did change it sometime before, but i can't remember when, i think it was in 1981 with the body change that it was moved to the driver's side with just a single tank, since i am moving all the junk is 250 miles away so i can't walk out and look /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
