I heard a newsclip this morning that Texas is trying to get a law past. What I heard was as of now, second time sex offenders of children are eligble for the death penalty. They are now trying to pass it for first time offenders.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

I agree it's a good idea as long as there is a good enough burden of proof

Same here. Kiddy diddlers are the lowest of the low. They deserve a bullet in the head and nothing more. But when it comes to what those cases are and how they are built, it can be a real slippery slope.

I am in no way a fan of pedophiles, but I think the death penalty for first timers might be going a little far. Second time offenders getting the injection I'm definitely for however.

there are some cases that seem the kids are coerced into saying things in away to make it sound the way ....... I'd hate to see some one falsely accused because he/she pissed of there ex and they were trying to f-them over

But some one who rapes and kills a little kid should die

Oh, murder is a different subject entirely. Yeah, if someone KILLS a child then they should be given the same treatment.

I was on jury duty recently and we had a child molestation case. In the end, there just wan't enough evidence to convict the guy. She may have been sexually abused (in this case, the only accusation was that the guy rubbed her junk through her jeans, nothing more)... and if she was it may have been the defendant (we got the feeling the house where it happned at was a VERY busy house, with all kinds of men coming/going all the time). We simply had no way of knowing, and because of that we couldn't hang the "sex offender" label on this guy for the rest of his life (he was 22).

I'm a big fan of the death penalty as a way of stopping repeat offenders... but in this case, it had sure as hell be a lot more than "he said vs she said". Assuming there is more, sure, give the guy the injection... definitely deserves it.

If there is the DNA proof and such , yes it would be good to just get them off the face of the Earth .

The system was originally intended to protect good people from the state , not criminals escape punishment :deal:

    Side benefits too :

One less person exhaling so called greenhouse gases .
One less mouth for the taxpayers to feed .

Of course , we could also stop segregating them , and let the other criminals kill them . Fortunately criminals don't like child molesters either !!

there are lots of anti-death penalty people out there. I suggest that we take a nation-wide vote... and all of those that vote against the death penalty are then taxed to keep this scum alive in jail. We have good people who are working their ass off to make it in this country and just scraping by... I see no reason why a murderer or child rapist etc should be given a free ride.

Except in a case where the convicted WANTS to be executed (like Timothy McVeigh), more tax payer money is wasted in the apppeals process than in housing an inmate for life.

after conviction, I ain't to worried about what the killer/rapist 'wants'. There is no question that we waste to much money in the execution process... but that is a seperate issue. This is one thing the Chinese have right... hole dug by inmates, 9mm slug to the back of the head. Cost: $0.02.

As long as it is proven, not kinda proven, but proven - kill'em. DNA makes this a no brainer for me. Those that think differently probably don't have children.

lol. It is a 'step up' from earlier Chinese (and Japanese and Vietnamese for that matter) behavior. They'd just bayo you to death... to save the cost of bullets.

things like this should go to public vote. Actually I think alot more things should got to public vote to me it seems our "lawmakers" are out of touch with the public they seem more preoccupied with there own agendas

I believe it would be an OPTION. This would probably be for those who readily admit it or can be proven without any shadow of a doubt.
