If you have high cholestrol in your family history you can eat rabbit food and it will still be high, because your body makes too much.

I take a med for it, and try to watch what I eat.

Consider taking the medicine. My Chiropracter learned the HARD WAY. 18 months ago he said I "could do other things" instead of taking med. for H.C. He is in his 40's. He had a heart attack last month, is OK now, and on high Cholesterol medication. His was over 300.

Genetics does play a big role. I run 3x a week, lift 2-3x a week, eat clean (most of the time....lol) and still could not get it below 230. Went on Lipitor three years ago (10 mg dose) and it's now down to 150ish. Worth it if you have insurance to cover the meds.

Oat meal will reduce it by about 6 points within 30 days if you eat a big bowl every day. Lots of fruits and veggies each day. (9 servings per day) Lots of fiber will help... When I had my heart attack in February my cholesterol was about 200... Now it's down to 160. I also take the meds...

Ok, Im qualified to talk about this. I take Crestor now instead of lipitor because you get the same results with lower dosage. But long before the meds, I tried naturally. Biggest things, no butter or mayonaise. Instead of butter, try olive oil, or olive oil butter. Olive oil is very good at reducing cholesterol. So is fish, even though fish is high in cholesterol (its the good kind). Basically, exercise, eat lean meats, stay away from butter, and put olive oil in stuff any chance you get. Good luck.

Thank guys, So I guess the chicken fried steak, biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy I had for dinner last night were bad then???And the giant bowl of icecream with chocolate syrup I had after didn't help either.... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gifGonna try diet change and exersize first, try to loose about 20+ lbs. and gain a little back with muscle wieght, but try and get to around 180 instead of 200...And then I'll get it checked again.... /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif
