This one's pretty easy. 14 bolt full-floater for the rear, the 8 lug one with the 10.5" ring gear. For the front, it's debatable, depend's on how much offroading you do. If you do a little bit, then the front 10 bolt or 44 should hold up okay, you will probably have to upgrade the front to 8 lugs to match the rear though. If you want a 1 ton front, dana 60, but they aren't cheap.

2-1/2 ton rock wells, Youll need to jack your truck up pretty good to clear the Toploading pinion.

A 6 inch suspension lift is not really enough to clear the drop ins on Rockwells. A few years ago I was looking into putting a set under my truck and came to the conclusion that I would need at least 10" of suspension lift to have any kind of clearance for the axle. I'd recommend going for the tried and true D60/14 bolt combo, or if you want to get real fancy then go for some Unimog portal axles.

As for the gear ratio, that has alot to do with the size tires that you want to run.

REASEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH

If you're good at fabbing stuff up and have a lot of cash to spend, then rockwells might be the ticket for you. It's gonna cost a lot, take a lot of research, ect.

If not, then just run 1 tons. a D60 with 35 spline axles and 14 Bolt will take you pretty much wherever you want to go within reason. I can't imagine you breaking either one very easily. 1 ton truck donors abound in the midwest, gear ratios don't have to suck for highway...Why dont you do a search on this popular topic, and include more info.

ok thanx

im wanting to run 35 15.50's on street and 38's for pleasure

and 6 inch clear for those axles
ya i dont see me gettin that crazy to snap a dana 60 but if i do i guess ill figure out what to go with if that happens

cuz i snapped a set of half ton axles from everyday street driving an some small offroading but of course the wicked 2nd gear scratch from the automatic tci350 turbo trans doesnt help much which likes to shatter the top of the pinon gear but was lucky to still be able to pull it up and off the trailer and up the drive way in 2 wheel drive how is a good ? cuz i dont know im still thinkin how i pulled it off but thats CHEVY FOR u nuttin can hold them down
i recomend a tci trans if u wanna get a good strong trans but there is a down side to it the hard shifts eat u joints bad but will tow anything that u put it up to

With that said, go with the 1 tonners. Look around, they can be found at a good price. You DO NOT want rockwells and tires under a 44" for the street. They only come with a 6.17 gear, you'd be wrapped up around 4K rpms at 45 mph....THAT WOULD SUCK.
